1992 GS-R with brand new dealer installed B17A1 en

In April I scrapped out my engine by ingesting water. State Farm replaced the engine with a salvage engine which died 2 months later (oil pump catastrophically failed). Now I have a brand new engine. I'm not in a hurry to sell the car, but I thought it's possible that the car is worth more to someone else than it is to me. SF paid $7600 to have the new engine installed...

How did you get State Farm to pay of another engine? Did they cover sucking up water from an AEM cai under comprehensive?

You got it. I couldn't believe it myself. I told them *exactly* what happened and they said, "OK." I think the folks at my Acura dealership were reasonably helpful, too. I didn't even consider claiming it until I had the tow truck driver, then a friend, then the Acura dealer ask me if my insurance was paying. By the time I got to the dealer I had called the insurance company and gotten the process started and they just did it. I was shocked, amazed, and gleeful. I was so crushed when it happened. I *really* wasn't prepared for a new car last May and I priced rebuilt engines, etc. online and thought I was gonna be out a few grand.

The (paraphrased) statement I got from everyone I talked to was, "Everyone is so afraid to use their insurance, don't they know that there's a reason you pay those premiums?!?" So, I guess there's a reason you pay those premiums, folks.
